You probably have LOTS of questions! There are so many factors involved when building a new home on your lot. These are just a few of the more common questions we hear. Your David Weekley Homes Internet Advisor or Build on Your Lot Sales Consultant are the experts who can answer all of your questions and make sure you are equipped with the knowledge you need to make the best home buying decision for you and your family.

What does “One-stop shopping” mean?

It means floor plan, city codes, inspections, foundation, landscape design…in other words, we will do everything and are a complete turn key operation! Lot Preparation, ACC or HOA approval, home design with an architect, all permits, engineering, in-house financing, design options in-house with a degreed professional designer, and more! This is why we are very comfortable calling ourselves Austin's full-service home builder. Additionally, at our Design Center you will be able to select all of your options and Custom Choices™.

What is the time frame to build our home?

From the time construction begins, approximately 8-10 months depending on weather, permitting, and inspections. Your Sales Consultant can help create a timeline that applies to your specific project.

What is the cost per square foot?

We have two features levels through our Build on Your Lot program and typical pricing can be viewed on our website for each plan. The final cost is based on the house plan, foundation requirements, location, customization, upgrades and more. Since our floorplans are customized, your Build on Your Lot Sales Consultant will be able to help you with specific pricing.

What contributes to the final cost of the home?

Your total package will consist of the base price of the home, any site evaluation costs, and any upgrades and/or modifications that might have associated costs. In addition, at closing you can roll the cost of your land into your final package!

Are there more floor plans available than the ones on the site?

Absolutely! What you see online are our most popular floor plans. We have literally hundreds of plans to choose from - and we can customize those floor plans as needed to ensure we the right home for your lifestyle and your lot. Your Sales Consultant will be able to help identify the perfect floor plan for your family!

We already have our own floor plan. Can you build it?

We have hundreds of floor plans in a wide variety of designs, and we will customize them to fit the specific and exacting needs of our Home Buyers. From estate-sized homes for acreage homesites or smaller single-story homes, we have a plan to suit your needs.

In many cases, you can also enjoy the outstanding quality and craftsmanship of a David Weekley-built home based on your own set of plans. And in some cases we may be able to build a plan from another source. Please bring your plan to one of our Build on Your Lot Sales Consultants and we can review it together and help make your dream home a reality.

What kind of financing do you require to build on our lot?

Building on your lot requires either a cash contract or a construction loan. Our preferred lender has great options available, and their rates are very competitive. Your Sales Consultant can get you started on that process.

Why does it (sometimes) cost more to build on your own land than in a community?

In some cases the layout of your land will vary including permitting, topography, utility locations as well as home placement due to views or other variables. In addition, your home can be customized to your lifestyle with no limit on modifications, whereas within a community there are often design restrictions defined by the developer.

But most importantly, through David Weekley’s Build on Your Lot program you can get exactly what you want, we can customize the home however you need, and you don’t have to “settle!”

Will you build outside the coverage area shown on your site? We live a few miles outside it.

Yes, depending on your specific situation we may be able to build outside of our Build on Your Lot coverage area for Central Texas. However, depending on the location of your land there may be an out-of-area fee. Please see your sales consultant to get specific information.
