Friendlier to You, to Your Environment, and to Your Pocketbook

It's what we call a "win-win-win."

All of which can help make your David Weekley EnergySaver Home easier to resell. Because from now on, any home that isn't green may be obsolete.

Going green has never made more sense.

So what makes David Weekley's EnergySaver Home a better investment in Charlotte?

birdhouseJust about everything. But here are some big differences...

Environments For Living® Diamond Level Program

There are so many claims to being "green," we felt that a national program with a great reputation would be the right choice and be more credible to our Homebuyers and Homeowners. The Environments For Living program has combined the major features of building science for the benefit of America's Homebuyers. The major features are a more comfortable, healthier, and more energy-efficient home.

Environments For Living Guaranteed Energy Savings

Each home that closes will be given a certificate that indicates the average yearly maximum energy usage for heating and air conditioning (only) to be guaranteed by Environments For Living. This will vary based on the size, number of windows, etc. per home.

Combustion Gas Safety

Combustion appliances in the conditioned air space are sealed or power vented to help avoid buildup of harmful carbon monoxide.

Environmentally-friendly Refrigerant

We help protect the earth’s ozone layer by using R-410 Puron refrigerant in our air conditioning systems.

Here's more green you might not have seen

More ways a David Weekley EnergySaver Home is a better investment…

Ventred Cooking Spaces

Our kitchens are designed to remove moisture and fumes by venting the cooking surfaces directly outside.

Low VOC Paints

Paint can reduce the quality of indoor air. David Weekley Homes uses low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) paints which give off reduced emissions and help maintain better indoor air quality.

Environmentally-friendly Termite Pretreatment

Our pretreated framing lumber is friendlier to the environment and reduces the risk of termite damage to your home.

Rehau PEX Plumbing Systems

We looked at the alternatives to copper plumbing and came up with a product that doesn't condensate in walls as easily, doesn't corrode and resists that old "bang, bang, bang" sound known as water hammer.

Third-Party Inspections

The more eyes, the better. Unbiased inspections are performed on your wall insulation, thermal envelope and HVAC duct work prior to drywall installation. As part of the inspection process, your home will receive an Environments For Living energy audit which utilizes a thermal bypass inspection, a duct blaster and blower door test. The duct blaster test is performed on your HVAC’s ductwork before drywall is installed to verify duct leakage is equal to or less than 3%, one of the key components ensuring your home qualifies for Environments For Living Energy-Efficient Certification. A blower door test is done after drywall is installed to check the tightness of the home.

Home Energy Rating Sustem (HERS®)

The HERS Index is a scoring system established by the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET®) that measures the energy performance of a home, and is used to compare the relative energy efficiency of different homes. The lower your home’s HERS Index, the more energy-efficient it is. A David Weekley EnergySaver Home in Charlotte averages a 66 on the HERS Index!
