Environments For Living® Platinum Level Program

The Environments For Living program provides a rigorous set of requirements for home builders who’ve made a commitment to go the extra mile. It’s a program that treats a home as a “system of systems” that work together, with limited guarantees on comfort and heating and cooling energy use.

Environments For Living Guaranteed Energy Savings

Each home that closes will be given a certificate that indicates the average yearly maximum energy usage for heating and air conditioning (only) to be guaranteed by Environments For Living. This will vary based on the size, number of windows, etc. per home.

Low VOC Paints

Paint can reduce the quality of indoor air. David Weekley Homes uses low Volatile Organic Compound paints which give off reduced emissions and help maintain better indoor air quality.

PEX Plumbing System

We looked at the alternatives to copper plumbing and came up with a product that doesn’t condensate in walls easily, doesn’t corrode and resists that old “bang, bang, bang” sound known as water hammer.

Advanced Framing

2x6 exterior walls allow for almost 50% more insulation in the walls for a quieter and more energy-efficient home.

More ways a David Weekley EnergySaver Home is a better investment…

Radiant Energy Barrier

Our radiant barrier decking (under shingled roofs) keeps your attic cooler by deflecting heat from the sun. A cooler attic environment improves the operating efficiency of your air conditioning system. This helps lower your utility usage.

Insulation

Fiberglass insulation is an ideal product in terms of its sustainability features. It uses readily available and recycled products, does not consume energy in its use, and helps to reduce the need for natural resources by improving energy effeciency wherever it is used.

Third-Party Inspections

The more eyes, the better. Unbiased inspections are performed on your home multiple times during construction including: foundation prior to concrete placement, framing, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems prior to sheetrock, and at home completion. Also, a seperate Energy Effeciency Inspection Process occurs during construction to ensure that our high energy effeciency standards are met. This process includes thorough inspection of the exterior wall insulation and sheathing prior to sheetrock and masonry application, and testing of the HVAC system duct tightness. A blower door test is performed at the completion of your home, to identify and reduce air leakage.
