Team Members collect nearly 2,600 pounds of food for the holiday

Indianapolis, IN (December 14, 2017): David Weekley Homes, the nation’s largest privately-held builder, hosted its third annual, companywide Giving Thanks, Giving Back Thanksgiving Drive, collecting an aggregate of more than 213,000 pounds of turkey and nonperishable items in 18 participating markets. The company’s efforts provided nearly 22,000 meals to local families.

In Indianapolis, more than 22,000 meals were provided with the nearly 2,600 pounds of turkey and nonperishable items collected during the two-week drive, which ran from November 1 to 15.

“Participating in the David Weekley Homes Thanksgiving Drive gives me the best feeling in the world,” said Lauren Lewis, project coordinator with David Weekley Homes. “Knowing we’re able to help people in need with a meal is wonderful. I am so thankful for our amazing team members and homeowners!”

Locally, the Thanksgiving Drive benefitted Second Helpings, an organization that provides nutritious meals for thousands of hungry children and adults in greater Indianapolis. David Weekley team members delivered the collected items to Second Helpings to distribute to families in time for the holiday.

“We are so completely grateful for David Weekley Homes and their service to our community through food and dollar donations,” said Amber Jett, corporate and donor relations manager with Second Helpings. “David Weekley Homes is truly changing our community one meal at a time, and helping our neighbors in need through an incredible impact of more than 22,000 meals.”

The Thanksgiving Drive is an initiative of the company’s CARE program, which joins team members with homeowners, homebuyers, community partners and local nonprofit organizations to live out its purpose of Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives in each of the communities in which it builds.
