Atlanta, GA (July 18, 2017): David Weekley Homes recently partnered with 18 local nonprofit organizations across the country through the company’s CARE Build Month projects.
In Atlanta, the project benefitted MUST Ministries, an organization that provides basic needs to families and children through numerous programs in the Cobb and Cherokee counties. Approximately 23 Weekley team members from the company’s Atlanta Team joined together with several family members to renovate a playground at the Elizabeth Inn Shelter.
“David Weekley Homes didn’t just paint and build basketball goals, they are making people’s lives better,” said Don Crampton, corporate relations officer with MUST Ministries.
This project is expected to benefit more than 1,000 individuals a year who will utilize the playground while staying at the shelter. The project included donations of materials as well as 115 volunteer hours to stain the playground equipment and paint bathrooms, handrails and a four square court. In addition, several business partners provided lunch for the team members.
“We’re glad that we were able to partner with great folks like MUST Ministries,” said David Gernatt, Project Manager in Atlanta with David Weekley Homes.
The project was an initiative of the company’s CARE program, which is a charitable and volunteer program that partners team members, homeowners, homebuyers and community partners with nonprofits to make a positive impact in the lives of everyone it touches and in all the communities it builds through its purpose, Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives. This is accomplished by company team members volunteering countless hours to different organizations in their communities and by The David Weekley Family Foundation donating more than $100 million to a variety of organizations through the U.S. and abroad over the past 20 years.
