HOUSTON, TX (February 5, 2015): David Weekley, the chairman and founder of the nation’s largest privately-held home builder, David Weekley Homes, was recently honored as a 2014 inductee into the National Association of Home Builders® Best in American Living (BALA) Hall of Fame. An honor that currently includes architects, interior designers and home building companies, Weekley is the first individual from a home builder to earn this prestigious distinction.

“I am truly humbled at being inducted into the BALA Hall of Fame,” Weekley said. “For nearly 40 years, we’ve committed ourselves to building innovative homes and focused on inspiring design and architecture. I’m honored to share the company of the great architects and designers also inducted, but to be the only home builder included in the BALA Hall of Fame is simply outstanding.”

The seven inductees for the 2014 BALA Hall of Fame class consists of architects and interior designers, and is only the third group of individuals and companies the organization has inducted to reach a total number of 22 now in the Hall of Fame.

With their first awards given in 1984, the BALA Awards, presented by the National Association of Home Builders®, recognizes designers, builders, founders and members who have significantly impacted the residential design and construction industry. Created in 2008, the BALA Hall of Fame selects individuals and companies that have made significant contributions to the residential building industry, and that are some of the most creative and well-respected leaders in the business.

Since founding his namesake company in 1976 in Houston, David Weekley Homes has expanded to 19 cities in 11 states, and has closed more than 75,000 homes. The company has received more than 1,000 industry awards and recognitions, including more than 650 awards for product design alone.

“As we grow and expand into new cities, we continue to develop new product lines and to create unique floor plans and design concepts that makes us an extremely versatile builder,” Weekley said.
