Looking to keep your family happy and healthy in 2013? Here are some easy ways to make your family’s resolutions achievable and fun.
Sign on the Bottom Line
Use poster board to create a family contract outlining your goals for the New Year. Start with drawing a grid with a box for each family member’s name. Make sure to leave enough space for writing their top resolutions (like keeping their rooms clean and brushing their teeth without mom or dad having to ask!). Encourage your little ones to decorate their box and add their top resolutions. Celebrate each completed goal with a prize!
“Be Proud” Bunting!
Decorate a wall in your family room with brightly colored bunting. Each time you or your children make progress toward a New Year’s resolution, have them decorate a flag. By December, you’ll have a wall full of the family’s progress to admire!
Healthy Snack Bar
If one of your goals is to have your family enjoy more healthy food, then set up an easy snack bar. Cut up fruits and vegetables at the beginning of the week and store them in easy to reach bowls in your fridge. Bell peppers, baby carrots and broccoli make great grab-and-go options, as do whole strawberries and cut cantaloupe. After school, put these tasty treats on the counter for healthy pre-dinner snacks.
