Pillow Talk Moves Beyond the Bedroom

Ahhh! There’s nothing like the feel of your head hitting the pillow after a long day. Whether they’re feathery soft or one stage away from rock solid, our pillows are cherished, comfort-inducing objects. However, limiting their place to the bedroom just may put the rest of your home to sleep. Toss around some throw pillows, and watch your rooms transform.

No Need for a New Room

We’ve all felt the impulse to change up our rooms a bit, but heading out to buy a new piece of furniture each time we do just isn’t a realistic fix. An easy solution for satisfying your fancy for a new look is to incorporate a few pillows into your space. If you’re gravitating toward a clean, sophisticated look, try a symmetrical arrangement on your sofa using similar shades in relatively close sizes.

When your room is awash in common hues, let your pillows do the talking and go bold. Mix colors and patterns, or go all out with an assortment of floral patterns. Slip in some different textures like burlap or shag that will garner attention in the lineup.

Size It Up

Size it Up

Next, consider sizing. Throw pillows come in a sea of different shapes and sizes. Mix in a round pillow in your nest of square and rectangle selections to create some interest on your sofa or love seat. A flirty ruffle peeking out from behind some smaller pillows can add some softness to your arrangement. Don’t leave out your ultra-comfy lounge chair, too. Go bold and place a pillow that matches the size of your chair back. Of course, if that’s outside of your comfort zone, scale back and opt for a plush pillow that can easily support your back.

We’ve all had that awkward experience of being swallowed by the avalanche of pillows on a sofa. Make sure they’re propping up the people using them and not just sitting pretty. Consider the depth of your sofa, making sure there’s enough pillow power so a person doesn’t end up struggling to sit up.

Now, kick off your shoes, get cozy surrounded by your new pillows and enjoy your enlivened space, even if you happen to nod off!
