Ratings & Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Recent Home Purchase Thanks to our realtor, Lisa O'keefe, whom already had a great working relationship with David Weekley Kevin Hoffman, our experience was great. There was very little we had to do when selecting and even purchasing our home.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tramel Floorplan Completed in 7 Months First time we had a home built. Neighbors commented on how quickly the build took place. Mark personally talked with all neighbors about build (traffic/noise) expectations and provided contact information in the event of any questions/issues. Cameron was a great communicator and project manager. Darren's customer service is exceptional and he gets things done. DW only charged based upon materials/labor required, while a competitor wanted to include a location premium even though the lot was already paid for (and we already paid a location premium when we purchased the lot). Smooth process overall, and would definitely recommend David Weekley based upon price, value, quality, professionalism, and timeliness!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Big expectations, BIGGER DISAPOINTMENT! Great experience with the on-site Sales representative, other than that, disappointed with the lack of attention to details, poor workmanship and the low quality of the materials installed in the house. What I knew about David Weekley homes, coming from the Houston TX area, is that he takes pride of the houses built, quality was more important than profit, it was his name and reputation above everything else. The quality of the house I have, does not reflect the David Weekley homes I knew, not even close. Starting with the fact that when a David Weekley house is purchased in the Charleston SC metropolitan area, I don't know other areas, is unfinished!, one wall of the garage is not covered and they have garage doors but not the garage door openers!!!; They built a Pocket Desk designed for an approx 2200sf house that in my mind doesn't make sense since this models include a Study/Office room, this pocket office, in my opinion, is a wasting space, instead, it should have been a 1/2 bathroom. For the size of this house, the guest rooms and limited in space as well as the garage doors width. In talking with the neighbors that own David Weekley houses, we all share the same opinion. Not going into much detail, I can say that fixtures, painting, finished flooring, doors not closing properly, garage doors not the same size, caulking in general, and other issues shows that David Weekley homes are just an average house with a big price. I was told that the same construction sub-contractors are the same crews building houses, which is fine. I am just questioning where was the David Weekley's standards being implemented in the houses built? The dry wall seam tape in the ceiling and walls are noticeable, even one can feel the bump where the tape is installed. Visually and at contact one knows is something wrong, I was told that it was just a visual effect for the light coming from the windows that have no blinds, even an offer to paint it again, the whole wall, and that defect that you may expect on an old house, but not on a new one built by David Weekely, still there. A hole made by the door knob located at the garage entrance into the house, (see attached pic) was not possible to change the whole wall, but just fixed, kind of, at the third time. A mistake created for not having the door stop on time to prevent it. The David Weekley I knew, would have change the whole wall, but the David Weekley of today, just decided to patch the holes on a new house. Now we are having issues, probably expected, I am not sure, that will need to contact the warranty person to deal with those issues on a new house that cost a lot of money due to the market, which clearly is builders market and David Weekley being a big player in the market can do what he wants as long as the profit is bigger than the quality. You may want to ask, why I purchased this house after reading above comments, it is simple, I have to settle with this house because it was ready to move-in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gets Better Every Day From the signing of our contract to the close and after our experience has been so enjoyable. The quality of our home is beyond our expectations and I love the follow up from Easter Baskets for our pooches (Compliments of Samantha our DW Realtor) to the warranty meeting and the drop ins to see if everything is ok. (Kevin) Pictures are from our beautiful home. I think our pups are enjoying it as much as we do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great experience from start to finish! We bought while it was already being built. Kevin was amazing from the start of the buying til the end. He even connected us with Keith for financing who was able to walk us through the process, and we were not an easy couple to get financed. I still have great communication with them and they are so attentive to making sure all is right and completely willing to fix anything wrong.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Buyers beware! We had a great experience with purchasing the home, our sales agent was top notch! Unfortunately, post move in there’s been nothing but issues. We’ve been in our home almost 2 months with many issues still needing to be resolved! The contractors left tape all over the trim around the house, trim is popping out on our porch everywhere, there were issues with the wood on the stairs that still haven’t been fixed. Now our warranty rep is passing on the work because he’s too busy. He also told us that we were just being perfectionists. Well the issues are pretty clear!! Very unprofessional. They also have left their trash in their dumpster on the construction next door for weeks now. They also let mud run from the construction site to our yard.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great value-details lacking. look at other options Amazing home for the price, best value in the neighborhood. Items to be completed pre-close still aren't done. They installed 2 different finishes on bathroom fixtures and the master wasn't correct until I personally went and bought matching fixtures. The secondary bath still doesn't have matching fixtures and the builder has no desire to make right. Cabinets don't match, concrete work not repaired, shower not built to spec, writing on walls for painting touch up never touched up. I was pushed to close but the house lacked some attention to detail and the team lacked responsiveness to issues I brought to their attention. I expect more at this price point. Consider them as they are a great value, but if details and job done right are important, there may be other builders at a higher price point worth considering.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ups, Downs & Trade offs Our closing date was pushed back multiple times due to poor craftsmanship, and continuous problems caused when old problems were being fixed. Scott and Tammy were great to work with, but we constantly had problems with the trade workers (painters, landscaping, roofers, kitchen repairs, cleaning company) coming in to fix one problem, only to cause another problem. We have had over 75 items on our punch list. We still have outstanding items to fix, and a leak in our ceiling that started less than 24 hours after closing, a leak which has been fixed at least one time already unsuccessfully - it is now worse than it was before the "fix". We were supposed to close in early June, and we still would not have been closed today - if we didn't accept that some punch list items would have to be fixed after closing. Scott has fixed many items, some instantly. When Scott could oversee work being done, it went well, but when he wasn't there, things went bad. It is unrealistic for Scott to watch over every trade, at every home, all day long, so I think the problem is in the contractors/trades that David Weekley hires. They do not seem to stand by the DWH standards. We have purchased 4 homes in the past 15 years, and every other home-buying experience was less problematic than this one. We are very hopeful that the home lives up to the DWH promise, but so far we are very worried about the quality and durability of the home. The home is beautiful, we love the lot, and we really want to start enjoying the home, and all that David Weekley promised, we just aren't quite there yet. CALRIFICATION ON QUESTIONS BELOW: Regarding question 2 below, this was a spec home, we didn't build from scratch. Regarding question 3, Scott and Tammy did communicate effectively, but there were times that my wife and I were sure that that punchiest wouldn't be done before closing, and that was the case two times. We wish that the status could have been communicated more accurately before going to closing multiple times. Regarding question 4, we do not have a reason yet to buy another DWH. That's to to say that we won't in the future, but right now we have more reasons not to buy a DWH than we do otherwise.
