Each year, the holidays seem to arrive without any warning. You vow – in July – to have your decorations, tree and presents ready to go well before the holidays, but time seems to fly! With November once again upon us, the time to decorate is now! Here are three easy ways to get festive without all the headache:
Bring the outdoors inside with a snow-covered scene. Repurpose a bar or buffet table to make a winter vignette by adding a layer of white fleece (available at craft stores), and laying down some pine cones and fall leaves (faux or from your yard) for a rustic look. Complete the look with a couple of pillar candles or short birch branches in a vase set to one side, and display your holiday cards on the other.
Give your mantle or doorframe some holiday cheer with a garland. Select a shape – stars, pennants or snowflakes – and cut from colorful paper (red and green or blue and white work well). String together using a needle and some baker’s twine, then hang in your chosen place and admire.
Add a little fun to your coffee or dining room table with an easy centerpiece. Simply select a vase or trifle dish (or several in different sizes and shapes) and fill with ornaments. You can purchase inexpensive sets from a craft or big box store. Use one color or mix and match – your new centerpiece should reflect your style!
Getting your home ready for the holidays is easy – you can even whip up all three of these ideas in an afternoon. Stay tuned for more decorating tips and trends!
