The holidays are almost here, which means the New Year is just around the corner! Hard to believe 2011 has flown by so fast! And, of course, with every New Year comes new home decorating trends and tips from the design gurus. We thought we'd take this opportunity to hit some of the highlights and find out what home design trends in 2012 are shaping up to look like!

Bold is better.

From the looks of it, we'll be seeing bold and bright colors this next year! Reds, greens, oranges and yellows in all shapes and sizes are making their way into the home. Whether it's with a throw pillow, decorative accents like a vase or picture frame, or even a wall color–go bold! It might even help brighten a mood, too!

Retro's not just for fashion.

Here's your chance to throw in a vintage or antique piece into a room and not feel like a fool! Tell them your interior designer said it's okay! From couches and chairs to artwork and lighting, create the retro vibe and mix it in with your everyday décor. You'll be amazed at the difference it makes!

Mirror, mirror on the wall.

Large, small, round, square! it doesn't matter when it comes to a mirror in 2012! A mirror is a great accent that will help open up a room and make it appear larger than it really is. They're also a relatively inexpensive way to totally change the look in a room.

White, really?

Just like in fashion, white is making its comeback. Predominately white furniture and wooden accents are growing in popularity. They create a great contrast from other colors, and can also help lighten and open up a space, too.
