David Weekley Homes joins Building Homes for Heroes and Hillwood Communities in gifting a mortgage-free home to Navy Veteran Gabriel George.

Houston, TX (January 29, 2026): David Weekley Homes is joining Building Homes for Heroes and Hillwood Communities in gifting a mortgage-free home to U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman Gabriel George and his daughter during a ceremony in the Manvel, TX, community of Pomona on Thursday, February 5th at 10 a.m.

Corpsman Gabriel George joined the Navy in 2004. During his nearly five years of service, he completed sea duty aboard the USS Carney (DDG 64) with deployments in the Mediterranean and to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in 2006. In April 2008, shortly before leaving to train and deploy with the Marines, Gabriel was involved in a catastrophic vehicle accident that nearly claimed his life. In the accident, Gabriel sustained severe nerve damage that caused paralysis in his right arm and ultimately led to its amputation.

During his recovery, Gabriel discovered adaptive sports, and became active in para archery, sailing, golf, and seated volleyball, earning the nickname “the One-Armed Archer.” As a member of Team U.S., he competed in the 2020 Invictus Games and was featured in the Netflix documentary Heart of Invictus. Today, he is a certified pickleball instructor, Director of Pickleball at Military Adaptive Court Sports, a coach and a motivational speaker.

The project to gift Gabriel and his daughter a home reflects the shared commitment of David Weekley Homes, Building Homes for Heroes and Hillwood Communities to honor those who have served. The celebration will include former Special Forces parachutists descending onto the site, a community gathering, the official presentation of keys, remarks from organizational leaders and an opportunity for Gabriel to speak. 

The home, featuring The Pressler floor plan, will offer 2,393 square feet of living space in a single-story layout with four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a two-car garage. The home also includes accessibility features in the kitchen and Owner’s Bath, such as grab bars, touchless faucets and a built-in shower seat to support everyday living.
