Students Benefit from David Weekley Homes School Supplies Drive
Charlotte, NC (August 22, 2018): David Weekley Homes, the nation’s largest privately-held builder, hosted its fourth annual, companywide CA+RE School Supplies Drive in 17 cities across the country. In Charlotte, school supplies were collected for HopeMatch, a nonprofit organization that matches local families in need with people who want to provide personalized gifts and encouragement and to make a lasting difference in their community.
“The HopeMatch Back to School Bash went extremely well this year,” said Erin Blackmore, director of HopeMatch. “Seeing the children’s faces light up with excitement was the highlight of the day and seeing them carry their stuffed backpacks out with huge smiles was priceless. So much work goes into organizing an event like this, and David Weekley Homes was once again a major player in providing the school supplies for the backpacks. Thanks for showing up in a big way!”
More than 1,600 school supplies were collected from homeowners, homebuyers, trade partners, real estate agents and David Weekley team members during the drive. This donation provided approximately 80 students with the supplies needed for the school year. In addition, The David Weekley Family Foundation donated $4,000 toward a new website for HopeMatch, which will allow the organization to continue growing its volunteer base, donations and community awareness.
“Our David Weekley team and homeowners are the best!” said Joanne Drake, senior sales consultant for David Weekley Homes in Charlotte. “They are always willing to pitch in and contribute to any cause. We enjoy partnering with organizations whose missions are near and dear to our hearts, like providing donated school supplies to kids and families in need so they can start their school year off on the right foot.”
The School Supplies Drive is a volunteer and philanthropic initiative of the company’s CARE program, which joins team members with homeowners, homebuyers, community partners and local nonprofit organizations to live out its purpose of Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives in each of the communities in which it builds.
