Charlotte, NC (October 15, 2013) – For the seventh year in a row, the nation's largest privately-held homebuilder, David Weekley Homes is helping to make the holidays brighter for those in need by collecting frozen turkeys and monetary donations, benefitting Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.

The David Weekley Homes Turkey Drive kicks off the annual Harvest Feast, one of Charlotte's largest food donation efforts, and will take place on Wednesday, November 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donations are made to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, which strives through education, advocacy and partnerships to eliminate hunger by the solicitation and distribution of food. In the Metrolina area, 15.7% of the population lives in poverty, including almost 185,000 children and seniors.

Those interested in making a frozen turkey or monetary donation can drop off at the Weekley Homes Division Office, located at 11430 N. Community House Rd. Suite 275, Charlotte, NC 28277. Also, please plan on joining us for food, drinks and fun!

David Weekley Homes will also be collecting frozen turkey donations at each of its seven Charlotte-area model homes from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 2. To find the model closest to you, visit the builder’s website at www.DavidWeekleyHomes.com.

For all turkey donations collected, David Weekley Homes will donate $15 directly to Second Harvest Food Bank. Last year, the Turkey Drive had its best year to date, with monetary and turkey donations equivalent to 1,000 turkeys. These turkeys go to local Charlotte families in need, who can enjoy the holiday in the comfort of their own homes.

For more information about this event, please contact April Rotenberry at 704-972-4215.
