David Weekley Homes CARE Program

David Weekley Homes CARE Program

When I started David Weekley Homes nearly half a century ago, I dreamed of creating a different kind of company – one focused not just on building high-quality homes, but on truly making a difference in the lives of our Team, our Customers and our Community. Through the philanthropic and volunteer efforts of our CARE program, you have helped bring this vision to life!

As I reflect on the remarkable year of giving and the community impact we had in 2024, I am filled with incredible gratitude. Our Team Members’ commitment to our values was reaffirmed with the donation of their time and efforts to serve others. Together, with the help of our extended family of Homeowners and Partners, we enhanced 723,928 lives and positively impacted the communities where we live and work.

While our initiatives may evolve, Our Purpose of Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives remains steadfast. I’m excited to see our impact grow as we continue this vital work together.

I hope that you’ll enjoy reading more about the impact we made and the organizations we partnered with in 2024.

Committed to Building Community Character

At David Weekley Homes, we are dedicated to fulfilling Our Purpose of Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives! Not only do we want to build homes that delight our Customers, we are also passionate about making a difference in the communities in which we work and live.

By joining together with our Team Members, Homeowners, Homebuyers and community partners, we are improving lives through the volunteer and philanthropic efforts of our CARE program, which we define as:

Committed to Building Community Character... encouraging a culture of caring and contribution with our Team Members, Customers and Community.

Active in our Community... engaging our communities with Team Members completing hundreds of projects, and through company earnings and the Dovetail Impact Foundation (formerly the David Weekley Family Foundation) donating more than $340 million to worthy causes over the past 30 years.

Responsible to our Community... living up to our responsibility of Building Dreams and Enhancing the Lives of our Team, Customers and Community.

Enhancing our Community... living a life of service to provide true meaning and purpose.

“The CARE program provides the priceless opportunity to create a ripple of kindness within our Team that extends to our communities where we live and serve. We give people the chance to show empathy and compassion and connect with those who have very little. It’s a beautiful way to enhance other’s lives as well as our own through service and giving, which in turn creates stronger communities.”

History of CARE

At David Weekley Homes, helping others and giving back is an integral part of our culture. For more than 20 years, that’s included a robust outreach program with our Team Members donating their time and talents working with local nonprofits.

While these efforts made a profound impact in the communities where we live and build, we knew that we wanted – and could – do more. In 2014, after gathering feedback and support from Team Members, Homeowners and Homebuyers about where to focus our philanthropic efforts, we launched our companywide CARE program.

To drive this initiative forward, we formed a CARE Council comprised of Team Members passionate about service and giving back. These dedicated individuals work behind-the-scenes to develop strategy and provide vision for our three annual companywide events and various local initiatives.

As the saying goes, “It takes a village,” and we are very fortunate to receive so much support from our Team and our community. We look forward to impacting more lives in the coming years!

Companywide Initiatives

While our CARE program focuses on many local charitable events, we also work with a variety of national organizations as part of our companywide initiatives. These nonprofit organizations include Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House, the National MS Society, Sleep in Heavenly Peace and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

Ideally, we support and partner with organizations committed to education and youth development, as well as those focused on improving livelihoods and strengthening family values.

For the last 10 years, we have hosted three annual companywide signature events through our CARE program.

Our CARE Build Month initiative allows us to share our unique skillset as home builders to complete building projects with a variety of nonprofit organizations. From ramp construction and kitchen renovations to building homes or beds for underserved children, Team Members work alongside our Trade and Vendor Partners to lend a hand by completing projects that impact the lives of those less fortunate.

This year, 14 of the company’s 19 local divisions as well as the corporate office, all completed projects to build more than 960 beds. This included partnerships with 13 local chapters of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. Five local divisions participated in other build projects such as working on renovations for an organization that helps homeless men, building wheelchair ramps, renovating office space for a nonprofit that aids refugees, working on Habitat for Humanity homes, and performing maintenance work and repairs at a camp for adults and children with disabilities.

Raleigh Team Members partnered with Habitat for Humanity and worked on three homes for their Build Month project.

School Supply Drive Logo

We believe it’s important for all students to have the tools needed for success in school. Through our School Supplies Drive, we work together with our extended David Weekley Homes family in the cities where we live and build to ease the financial burden of this expense for thousands of families and provide deserving children with the supplies needed for the new school year.

15,300 students received supplies, $118,500 in donations collected

Team Members in Atlanta donated $3,850 and 5,376 school supply items to the Teacher’s Closet at the Community Assistance Center of Atlanta, benefiting almost 1,000 students and teachers.

“We were all blown away by your Team’s generosity and commitment to ensuring our kiddos have a successful school year. I know these supplies and your support mean the world to our families. Thank you.” | SARA HOWE Senior Director of Advancement, Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties

WELLNESS-FOCUSED CARE EVENTS

As a way of incorporating both our philanthropy initiatives and prioritizing wellness, Team Members across the country participated in 14 fun runs. The company paid the run fees for Team Members and a guest – with all proceeds benefitting local nonprofit organizations. We had a great turn out with 588 runners/walkers participating. In 2025, we plan to participate in 15 runs across the country.

“The CARE program reflects the core values that define David Weekley Homes. It makes a real difference in the lives of our Team Members, Homeowners, Trade Partners, and most importantly, our communities. Through this program, we not only enrich the lives of others, but we also strengthen our own sense of purpose and impact.
