Dress Your Thanksgiving Table for Success…
Just add a cornucopia!
Before we begin… a little history – the cornucopia has been around since the 5th Century and is sometimes referred to as the "horn of plenty," signifying the wealth of the harvest of the season.
Enough history, now it’s time to make your very own cornucopia. Here’s how:
Start by purchasing a ready-to-fill cornucopia, or a cone-shaped basket that bends slightly resembling the horn of a goat.
- Next, place a large tray or flat basket on a table and cover it with colorful autumn leaves.
- Then fill the cornucopia with straw. This saves you from using so many fruits and vegetables to fill the horn.
- Once the cornucopia is filled with straw, place it on the tray covered with seasonal foliage.
- After that, you will begin placing the largest fruit and vegetables inside the cornucopia.
- Continue to fill the cornucopia with fall-harvested fruits and vegetables like gourds, small apples, miniature pumpkins, oranges and Indian corn. Be sure to let the fruits and veggies spill out over the fall leaves on the tray.
- Now, sprinkle nuts and berries over the cornucopia.
- To finish off your creation, tuck in more colorful leaves among the vegetables and fruit.
Looks like you’re all finished, and now you have a beautiful cornucopia to complete your Thanksgiving table. See… that was easy!
