Grab a Brush

Paint plain pillow covers for a handmade look!

Supplies you’ll need:
- A pillow
- A solid colored pillow cover sized to fit your pillow – available at many home goods stores
- Fabric paint Sponge paintbrush or regular paintbrush Newspaper or cardboard
- Stamps or stencils (optional)

Directions:
Place newspaper or cardboard between the layers of the pillow cover to ensure no paint seeps through. Using your brush, collect enough paint to cover the bristles and wipe up excess. If you’re using a stencil, secure it to the cover using painter’s tape. If you’re using a stamp, cover the entire surface with paint evenly. Then paint or stamp away! Make sure to use even pressure and a dappling motion to spread paint evenly. Let dry and then remove newspaper/cardboard. Pop in a pillow and add to your couch or favorite chair!

Refashion Your Pillow with Ribbon

Maybe you have a great pillow that someone – we’re not naming any names here (kids… cough…kids) – stained.

Supplies you’ll need:

- Ribbon, trim or ric-rac
- Sewing pins
- Fabric glue

Directions:
Take a length of ribbon and create a unique design on your pillow front. You can do stripes, shapes or anything that strikes your fancy! Pin down your design, then apply glue one section at a time. Let dry. This is a great way to hide the pillow’s stain and create a fresh look.
