Spring is Here, Now Time to Clean!
Aaaah, the joys of spring… flowers are blooming, temperatures are warming up, the days are longer (for most of us) and now it’s time to get your home ready for the seasons ahead! That’s right, it’s spring cleaning time! Here are a few tips to help you get the most out of your spring cleaning chores.

Set it and stay
One of the biggest drains on your electric bill can be cooling your home, especially when the warmer months roll around. For a minimal initial investment of about $50 to $150, you can install a programmable thermostat that can help save on your overall cooling and heating bills. This way, you can program specific temperatures while you’re home and away.

Caulk the cracks
Check around your doors and windows for gaps. A good rule of thumb is if the gap is wider than a nickel width, you should reapply exterior caulk. You can also add weatherstripping around doors if you’ve got some daylight creeping in!

Clean the gutters
With the especially harsh winter we’ve all had, there is probably quite a bit of debris looming in your gutters. This is something you can do yourself or hire someone to do. If you plan on cleaning them yourself, just remember to be safe when climbing the ladder and working around your roof area!

Filter check
You should be replacing your indoor air conditioning filters about once a month, but if you’re not, now is a great time to make the investment and replace your filters. Note to self: write down your sizes and how many of each you’ll need! The worst thing is getting to the hardware or home improvement store to find out you can’t remember the exact sizes or quantities! (We've all been there!)
Just a good ‘ole cleaning
It’s going to take some time, but take a day or two and clean your baseboards, wipe down doors, cabinets and windowsills. You’ll feel so much better about your house once you’ve done this!
With your chores taken care of, it’s time to get out and enjoy the weather!
