Weekley Adds Double The Amount Of Jobs In 2012
by David Weekley Homes
HOUSTON, TX: David Weekley Homes has hired 188 new employees company wide from January to June in 2012 compared to 90 new hires for the same period in 2011. Over 50% of the positions were newly created and many were returning employees seeking rehire. The added positions span the company, including construction, administrative, purchasing, professional and management functions.
This comes on the heels of news that US homebuilding stocks suffered a decline in June after job growth fell short of analysts expectations for the first time in 10 months. The Standard & Poor's 1500 Homebuilding Index (S15HOME) dropped to 8 percent June 1, 2012 based on job gain assessment.
“We are thrilled to be adding American jobs as we enjoy national growth, especially after the difficult times our industry has experienced during the recession,” John Johnson, CEO of David Weekley Homes, said. “Homebuilding is rebounding after weathering the current market for the past 6 years.”
Headquartered in Houston, David Weekley Homes added many jobs to the local economy in construction, sales, purchasing and in support roles. Houston has seen a 2.6 percent job growth in 2011 and is predicted by the Federal Reserve to top 2 percent for the third straight year. Nationally in 2012, non-farm job growth was better than expected in July, adding 163,000 total payroll employment verses a predicted 100,000 jobs.
