50 Years of Enhancing
Lives through
Home

From our first foundation in 1976 to today's award-winning designs, we've helped thousands of families find more than a house - we've helped them come home.
1976
A Humble Beginning

David Weekley launched his company from a small Houston office with a belief that homes should be designed around the families who live in them. With close attention to design, craftsmanship and Customer care, he began building homes thoughtfully.

1980s
Designed for Living

While others relied on standard plans, we designed homes around how families live and gave Homeowners more choice along the way. It was a radical idea then and is now an industry norm.

1990s
Giving Back Becomes Core

As the company grew, David pledged to donate half his profits to charity. What began as a personal commitment became a core part of who we are and helped set a new standard for giving in homebuilding. We do this to support the communities where we live and build.

Big Wins, Bold Growth

With the support of our Homeowners, we made history by winning the first Triple Crown of Homebuilding, recognizing excellence in design, quality and Customer satisfaction. That momentum fueled our expansion into new markets, allowing us to bring our award-winning homes to even more families.

2000s
Design That Delivers

As energy efficiency became more important, we introduced EnergySaver™, our approach to building homes through thoughtful design and construction practices that help reduce energy use. That commitment to innovation and service earned David Weekley Homes recognition as a J.D. Power Customer Service Champion and one of the 50 highest-performing U.S. companies for Customer experience.

2010s
Purpose in Every Home

Living out Our Purpose of Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives, we expanded our impact during the decade. The launch of our CARE outreach program and the introduction of Encore by David Weekley Homes, our 55+ lifestyle communities, reflected new ways to serve Homeowners and communities.

2020s
Built With Trust

During this decade, we closed on our 100,000th home, a milestone made possible by the trust Homeowners have placed in us over time. As technology continues to evolve, we use it to make the homebuying journey easier and more convenient, while keeping personal connection at the heart of everything we do.

2026
50 Years of Impact

As we mark 50 years, we are grateful for the families who have trusted us to build their homes. From a humble start to serving families across the country, Our Purpose remains unchanged. We look ahead to the next chapter, together!

50 Years of Home Evolution
At David Weekley Homes, we’ve spent the past five decades reimagining what “home” can be. Step back in time and explore how design has evolved — from formal living rooms to open gathering spaces, decorative bathrooms to spa-like retreats, and classic brick exteriors to bold modern elevations. It’s more than a design change — it’s a reflection of how families live, connect, and thrive.
Exteriors – Evolving Curb Appeal
Over the past five decades, the look of our homes has evolved as styles and expectations have changed. From traditional brick façades to today’s more bold and varied elevations, curb appeal has always been about making a lasting first impression.
Then: Classic brick homes with balanced symmetry and modest landscaping – solid, welcoming and built to last.

Now: Exteriors feature diverse elevations, mixed materials and expansive windows, creating curb appeal that reflects each Homeowner’s lifestyle.
Kitchen – The Heart of the Home
Kitchens have always been the heart of the home, but how they function has changed dramatically. From tucked-away galley layouts to today’s open, social spaces, this room reflects how family life has evolved.
Then: Warm, rustic kitchens with wallpaper borders, dark counters, and smaller, defined spaces carried a traditional charm but often kept the cook separate from the action.

Now: Open, central and designed for gathering, today’s kitchens feature expansive islands, refined finishes and seamless flow into living and dining spaces.
Family Room – From Formal to Family-Centered
Living spaces have shifted from formal, separated rooms to open, connected areas designed for everyday life. Over time, these spaces have evolved to reflect how families truly live, relax and come together.
Then: Distinct, formal rooms with defined purposes and traditional layouts.

Now: Open-concept spaces filled with natural light, designed for connection and flexibility.
Bathroom – From Bold Statements to Spa Retreats
Bathrooms have evolved from bold, statement-driven spaces into calm, spa-inspired retreats. What once emphasized decorative style now focuses on comfort, function and everyday wellness.
Then: Highly decorative spaces often centered around statement tubs and bold finishes.

Now: Calm, streamlined bathrooms designed around comfort, simplicity and everyday wellness.
Now
