David Weekley Homes and Newland Communities New 55+ Housing Concept
Honored with Best in American Living National Design Award
Tampa, FL (January 12, 2017): Encore at Fish Hawk Ranch, the 55+ housing community developed and built by Newland Communities and David Weekley Homes, has been recognized with a Silver award in the 2016 Best in American LivingTM Awards (BALA) by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Encore at FishHawk Ranch was honored in the Active Adult Community category.
FishHawk Ranch is owned in a joint venture partnership between NORTH AMERICA SEKISUI HOUSE, LLC (NASH), the U.S. business unit and full subsidiary of SEKISUI HOUSE, LTD., Japan’s largest home builder and leading diversified developer, and Newland Real Estate Group, LLC, whose development business, Newland Communities, is the master developer of the community. FishHawk Ranch is of more than 30 communities the NASH-Newland partnership owns together in 11 states across the United States.
Encore at FishHawk Ranch was recognized for its new approach to home design specifically for buyers 55 years and older. In partnership with David Weekley Homes, extensive market research was conducted and used to develop floor plans and amenities that would appeal to the growing needs of baby boomers, who are a driving force in real estate.
“We’re so proud of the community Encore at FishHawk Ranch provides and we’re extremely honored to be recognized,” said Alex McLeod, senior vice president and general manager for Newland Communities’ Tampa Division. “The Best in American Living Awards recognize the best innovative and creative communities in the United States and we’re humbled to be included in that list. We developed Encore at FishHawk Ranch to provide the best possible experience to today’s discerning active adults.”
"David Weekley Homes is fortunate to be able to create communities that go the extra mile to provide an active adult lifestyle to our homeowners,” added Nate Beauregard, the Tampa division president for David Weekley Homes. “Receiving this distinction from Best in American Living is a tribute to our dedication to the 55+ community and we are honored by the recognition.”
Encore at FishHawk Ranch features 16 open-concept, single-story floor plans that have been precisely designed to fit the needs of the active Boomer population. With expansive kitchen and living spaces, spacious master retreats and exceptional outdoor living spaces, the homes have also been designed to help ensure that owners can age in place.
The gated community also offers outstanding amenities, including The Oasis Club, a 5,000 square-food recreation center with a full-time lifestyle director on staff to schedule a host of social activities for residents.
The Best in American Living Awards program recognizes outstanding achievement by builders and design professionals in all sectors of the residential housing industry including single-family production, custom, rental, affordable, interiors, remodeling, community and international, based on the principle that good design is not, and should not be, limited to high-priced and/or custom homes. Even the simplest, most affordable homes can receive an award if they showcase good design.
Award winners were announced during the annual NAHB International Builders’ Show in Orlando on January 11, 2017.
