Make Your Home Cozy for Fall
The fall season means cozy sweaters, apple cider, logs in the fireplace and the smell of burning leaves – we love everything about this time of year! As the temperature begins to drop, don’t forget about transitioning your home décor! According to the experts, fall’s home design trends are all about subtle changes. Your home will look amazing for fall using trends that include shimmer, architectural mirrors, lavender and navy tones, unique uses for doors and velvet fabric.
Make it Shimmer
Add some glow to your home this fall with hints of shimmer. Shimmer is one of the best trends to hit the home interior design world. Hints of metallic are most popular when used in the fabric on chairs, drapery and pillows. The key is to keep the shimmer subtle so it complements, rather than dominates, the space.
Add Dimension with Mirrors
Mirrors are great as décor, because they make the space look bigger too! Use a mirror to take ornamental traits from windows and doors to give an architectural appeal to the space they’re in. Look for a detailed metal frame, if you’re looking for a modern look. If you can’t find a mirror with the ornate framework, make one! Take an old window and remove the glass. A hardware store or a glass shop can replace the glass with a mirror that will fit perfectly. Or, take a mirror you already own and add pieces of a vintage doorframe so that they fit around the shape of the mirror.
Lavender and Navy Tones are all About Fall
In bedrooms and bathrooms, many of us struggle with how to “go girly” without going overboard. Try lavender and navy tones together. Lavender brings the femininity, while navy completes the look with touches of sophistication. If you’re more fond of one color, simply use it in the larger spots of a room, such as the bedspread in your bedroom. Then add hints of lavender in a throw, lampshade or rug. You can also mix up one or two shades of navy and one or two shades of lavender.
