David Weekley

David M. Weekley, Chairman

David Weekley founded David Weekley Homes in 1976 at the age of 23, and now serves as the chairman of the largest, privately-owned home builder in America.

David Weekley Homes was the first homebuilder in history to win the "Triple Crown of American Homebuilding," which incorporates the following three awards:

  • Professional Builder "National Builder of the Year" — two-time recipient
  • Professional Builder "The National Housing Quality Award"
  • Builder "America's Best Builder"

In 1999, BUILDER awarded Weekley the "Hearthstone Builder Lifetime Public Service Award." In 1998 and 1986 he was named "Builder of the Year" by the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA).

Currently, Weekley serves on the board of directors for St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital. Additionally, he serves on the board of trustees of The Kinkaid School, former board President and current board member of the Greater Houston Community Foundation, as well as the executive committee of the Sam Houston Area Council of Boy Scouts of America. He has served as chairman of the Steering Committee of the Metro Houston Young Life and chairman of the Sam Houston Area Council of Boy Scouts of America, president of the GHBA and the Young Presidents Organization and executive board member of Houston's Star of Hope.

He authored a book on home buying, How to Buy a Home Without Getting Hammered.

Weekley holds degrees in economics and geology from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.

John Johnson, CEO

John Johnson, Chief Executive Officer, has been with the company since 1990. One of Johnson's most notable achievements has been the introduction of the company's Commitment to Excellence program. Highly praised, this program has brought David Weekley Homes to the status of a world-class home builder. During Johnson's tenure the company has:

  • Achieved record-setting Customer Satisfaction scores
  • Ranked highest in Customer Satisfaction with new home builders in Dallas/Ft. Worth, Tampa Bay and Austin according to J.D. Power and Associates' New Home Builder Customer Satisfaction Study℠
  • Earned a spot on FORTUNE magazine's list of the "100 Best Companies to Work For®" eight times

With an eye on growth and furthering the company's Commitment to Excellence, Johnson has been instrumental in David Weekley Homes' expansion into 15 of its 18 markets and has been a guiding force behind its introduction of new product lines.

Johnson holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Houston.
